Naming characters

I try not to name characters similar sounding names or have names that start with the same letters in a story so that it makes it easier on the reader as well as making it less likely that I'll type in the wrong name while writing. In the current story I'm working on, that "rule" just got tossed out.

Triptych Heart is set in my Divine Worship World and the mains for that are Malachite/Qayin/Ji-Sun. Yes, it's a thruple AND it's an mpreg. You are welcome. The story starts off with Qayin and his son, Kheima. Later, another son will make an entrance. He was nameless until literally 7am this morning. He now has a name and it is Kyrieleison.

I could try to change his name to something else but it's not going to fly because his name makes such perfect sense. I can't change Kheima's name for the same reason. Qayin refuses to give up his name.

Qayin (KAY-yin): Hebrew meaning acquired, possessed. Anglicized to Cain.
Kheima (KEY-ma): variant spelling of chimera
Kyrieleison (kear-E-lays-on): Greek ecclesiastical phrase; kyrie eleison: Lord, have mercy. It is a petition, a prayer of thanksgiving, and acknowledgement of what god has done/is doing/will continue to do.

All 3 are Chimeric Demons. Kyrieleison is what happens when one of the two gods Qayin is partnered with is the God of Fertility (in addition to Carnal Desire and Love). Ji-Sun is that god. Malachite is the God of Crystals & Stone.

So I apologize in advance for any name confusion that might occur in this story. It wasn't intentional and is just what the characters demanded of me. I am but a slave to the Muses.

comments

I had said I'd try and keep up with the posting schedule for Absolute Destiny. Life has conspired against me and it's looking like that isn't going to reliably happen.

Last Sunday my brother passed away suddenly. I'm his closest immediate family (our mom passed away last year) and it's looking like he didn't have a will. Disposal of his estate falls to me, which I'm fine with although the task seems daunting.

He also lived over 1400km/900 miles away so there's going to be travel in my future in order to start shutting down his life. This new responsibility along with my other contractual writing obligations means that something I'm just doing because I need to tell that story gets pushed to the back of the line. I apologize for that to my readers but its life's love of curve balls that has messed with my intentions.

comments

Next installment for your pleasure is here. This is also very much an R-rated chapter and NSFW unless you're reading on your phone or tablet or something that isn't (generally) monitored for work appropriateness.

I'd also like to state upfront that while I'm hopeful to keep with the posting schedule, I dunno if I can keep up. I am sorry about that, but there is a gap between what's been posted so far and the rest of the stuff I have written that I need to fill in. Normally, that wouldn't be an issue. However, The Fire has been pushing me hard to finish (and I'm nearly there!) and I have a new work about to begin posting over on Yaoifix.com and have writing obligations there that I'm actually under contract for and thus take top priority spot in the writing order of things. I'm not saying I won't be updating this, just that I might fall behind schedule.

( Chapter 8 )

comments

All works that fall under the Divine Worship World can be found here.

The world of Divine Worship exists sometime in our past when gods roamed the world and Otherworldly beings mingled freely with humans. The majority of stories are about gods and the mortals they fall in love with. All stories can be read independently of each other in virtually any order. There is a timeline but reading something out of order won't have you scratching your head in confusion as that timeline relates purely to when a certain couple got together with Rhas-Khan/Eilam being the base pairing.

Currently, the following pairings exist in the Divine Worship World:

Rhas-Khan, God of the Abyss & Eilam, a human Fatebender mage
Fei-Lau, God of Winter Storms, Sleet, a former Meadow fairy Fei-Lau's minion & Khale, 1/2 Frost Elf & 1/2 Ice Demon, Shard of an Ice Demon Clan
Saraf, God of Primal Flame & Lord of Metallic Dragons & Edenlei, a Fire Elf and Geomancer of Saraf
Wu-Tr, God of Primordial Watrs & Yalaren, 1/2 Limnad & 1/2 Dijin
Ra-Sui, God of Decay & Guardian of Souls & Wisp, a Shadow Soul
Mkhai, God of Warfare & Weaponry and Supreme Commander of the Immortal Army & Kathiel, a Battle Mage under Mkhai's command
Ondraeden, God of Fear & Nightmares & Valerian, once human but now something more
Ammiel, God of Perception & Dashiell, 1/2 Coyote & 1/2 Kitsune, protector of Ammiel
Sondo, Psycopomp to Ra-Sui & Iwa-Xine, Dryad of a yew tree

Rhas-Khan & Eilam
Into The Heart of The Abyss
Crystallization Enrichment
Forever In The Abyss

Fei-Lau, Sleet & Khale
Absolute Series Master List

Wu-Tyr, Yalaren & Naicree
Naicree On The Half Shell
Eye On The Prize

comments

I've had this sitting on my HD for a while now and it's languishing without the attention it deserves. Mostly because so many other shiny things vie for my attention. But, I figure if I start posting it, I'll need to get my ass in gear and finish it. My intention, at least initially, is to post a new chapter bi-monthly (I'm gonna try for the 1st and 15th more or less of each month) but I may not be able to keep that pace so it's not a promise of delivery for those dates (although I'll try hard). I'd aim for something weekly but I have other writing obligations I'm under contract for and they take precedence over something I'm writing because the story wants to be told.

Please bear in mind that this is what I consider 1st draft format. No eyes but mine have seen this and its only had a spellchecker run on it so all spelling/grammar errors are mine alone. This is the story of how Fei-Lau, Sleet and Khale come together as lovers. This takes place 10 years after the events of Absolute Zero/Psychotic/Divinity/Symbiotic.

These three are the hardest BDSM players I have in any of my worlds. They also like some of the lesser written kinks such as (but not limited to): Dominant/submissive, medical play, enemas, catheters, blood/knife play, temperature play, self-suck/fuck, impact play (to the level of bruising), stretching/filling, double penetration and fisting. Sleet is also 1/2 the size of his lovers (3' tall to their 6' tall) and does enjoy full penetrative sex with them, both giving and receiving.

PG-13 for violence, bloodshed and death

( Chapter 1 )

comments

Those of you have have my personal journal friended likely know that I have recently acquired a doll head and that I was very excited to have gotten him. He is by SoulDoll and is a head that was given as a gift to customers that purchased the full, limited time, doll, The Heirophant (part of their Tarot series). I'm not 100% sure why they chose this sculpt to go with that card. The sculpt itself is a partial skull and, in my opinion, would've been a better, obvious fit, with Death. Nothing about the Heirophant relates to death/decay/skulls, but whatever. I will be purchasing him a body later.

This partial skull head is Ra-Sui, God of Decay and Guardian of Souls. I'm seriously loving his character a lot. I haven't figured out his partner yet although I do have a generalish sort of idea of him. Their story will need to wait a while as it grows and develops in my head. However, I do have Ra-Sui making an appearance in Saraf/Edenlei's story, The Fire Of Godly Devotion. And because I like to share/tease, here's an excerpt of that....

( Ra-Sui introduction )

Not sure yet when I'll be done The Fire.
I'd posted about this on my personal LJ but given the way LJ is going and that the name changes I'd been contemplating are for characters of mine, I think it's appropriate to post here. So....

Eilian's name is now officially changed to Eilam. Eilam (E-lamb) means boundless time/eternity, which is very fitting considering who he is and who he's married to (that would be Rhas-Khan, Lord of the Abyss). I'll be changing stories to reflect that (eventually) and anything in the works that mentions him will obviously get changed as well.

My Kitsune/Coyote character that is partnered with Ammiel, God of Perception, was a bit of an impulse purchase at Dollism in Buffalo a few years back. When I'd originally seen the doll for sale online, I liked him but didn't have the cash for him and had no idea who he was. A year later in 2014 I'm at Dollism and the artist brought the last one she had left to the con and he was for sale. I saw him the first day of the con but waited until the last day, literally 2 hours before the end of the con, to buy him to be sure I really wanted him.

In the 2.5 years that I've had him, I've struggled with his name. First he was Shae-Lin. Then he was Makasi. I wasn't happy with either name and that name dissatisfaction has kept me from completing the story with him and Ammiel. I'd done some name searches and came up with quite a few I liked but let them simmer in the back of my head to see which resonated the best for him. I'm hopeful that I've hit upon the right one for him (finally). He is now Dashiell which means from heaven. Now if I can just get my ass moving and make him his proper wig with the fur I have for it....

And for the people who've friended/added me here on DW, thank you. If you friended my other DW under iron_dog... I've forgotten my password for that journal and I need to get it reset or resent to me or whatever *head desk*.

comments

I keep meaning to post this and keep forgetting to do so. I wrote this quite a while back and it's been sitting on my HD for months as I tried to decide what I was going to do with it (free read? publish? post to some fiction site?). Well, in the spirit of the giving season, I'm giving my readers a smutty read. This is a one-shot but posted in two parts due to the length of the piece (19,011 words). One of the mains in this also makes an appearance in The Ugly Incubus and just about begged to have something of his own, even if it is just this one piece.

As far as warnings go... vampire/Incubus, blood, violence, and something that could safely be called a semen enema. Oh, copious amounts of sex, too. Phane (the vamp) is physically seventeen, however, he is nearly 2,000 years old so not underage and so far beyond the minimum legal age its not funny. And now, on to the story!

( Feeding The Hunger-Part 1 )

Feeding The Hunger-Part 2

comments

Yep, you read that right. I'm actually telling you guys not to purchase my books. No, I haven't gone crazy. I've asked for and received my rights back for all my work that was still under contract to Torquere Press. To the best of my knowledge, as of 10:30am EST December 18, 2016, my work is still available on the TQ site as well as with the various distributors (I checked). While I did just receive the RoR in my inbox this morning, with the receipt of the RoR, TQ is no longer legally allowed to sell my work. I am in the process of sending take-down notices to the various distributors and I would expect it to take a few days for those to come into effect. How long things will remain active on the TQ site... I don't know. But if things don't come down within a reasonable timeframe, I'll be sending out a notice to the webmaster to remove my works from there as well.

Why things are still available for purchase on the TQ site when they've announced that they are closing down and haven't paid authors and editors in... well, I personally haven't been paid since May 2016 but others have gone without pay for longer, I can't say. I could state the obvious, which is the desire to wring the last drops of bloodied money from the TQ corpse, but that is only my supposition. The right thing to do would have been to disable the sales/cart function on the TQ site as soon as the decision to close was made (that was announced a week ago, BTW). I'm not a tech genius, but it seems to me that a simple email to the webmaster saying please disable the sales/cart function of the site until further notice would be a no-brainer and dead easy. Unless, of course, you wanted to continue making money you're not entitled to. Then by all means, leave the sales function alone and do not notify any distributors of the intention to close down (as is currently happening).

Yeah, little peeved here.

At any rate, if you were looking for any of my work published through TQ and didn't have the chance to purchase it before today (December 18, 2016), please DON'T buy it from anywhere. Contact me and I'll hook you up. I'm not sure yet how I'll get my work back out there. Another publisher? Self-publish? Go crazy and post things as free reads? *shrugs* I'll keep you guys posted. I also apologize for those that see this post more than once as I'm trying to get the word out there as best as I can so others don't profit off my work without compensating me for it.

comments

Here's the next little piece about Naicree, herald to Wu-Tyr, God of the Depths. This is part of my Absolute world of fiction. Naicree is still fairly young here and isn't officially Wu-Tyr's herald yet. I'd say this is rated a very mild PG-13. I'm unsure if I'll write more of just Naicree and Wu-Tyr. The next time you'll see more of him will probably be in the story of Wu-Tyr and Yalaren, tentatively titled Rolling In The Deep.

( Eye On The Prize )

comments

As the title says, I am writing. Quite a bit recently actually. However, it's nothing that I've posted anywhere because I'm not done yet. Aside from the new story, Some Velvet Morning, that has recently started being posted on Yaoifix.com, I've been writing what I'd initially thought was going to be a novelette (10-20K). Yeah. No. That got bumped to novella size (20K-45K) when I hit 20K and still had a good chunk of story to tell. I'm currently a tick over 31K annnnnd.... Yeah. This might be heading into full blown novel (over 45K) territory *head desk*.

The story is tentatively called The Fire and takes place in my Absolute word (the same world that has Fei-Lau, Khale, Sleet, Rhas-Khan and Eilian). The mains in this are Saraf, God of Primal Flame and Lord of Chromatic Dragons and Edenlei, a Geomancer of Saraf. Currently, the story is entirely from Edenlei's POV, which is a little unusual for me as I usually do a shifting POV. And I was humming along quite happily with just Edenlei's POV. Only.... Now it seems that Saraf wants to have his POV represented, too *looks to heaven for patience*. And not only as an addition to the story from where it is now, he's insisting that I go back to the beginning and shoehorn his POV in there *gives character an annoyed look*. Adding that stuff in will definitely turn this into a novel, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, really.

Fine, that will flesh out the story a lot more and I think the readers will enjoy seeing the events from Saraf's POV, which will certainly have a VERY different flavour than Edenlei's POV, and will explain Saraf's actions and where his head is at with regards to Edenlei. I've really been enjoying these two and I hope that when I finish the story, my readers will enjoy it, too. I'm not sure yet how I'm going to get this to my readers (free read or published), but obviously if you stay tuned to this journal, you'll know where to find it when it is done.

comments

Today marks 6 years that Blind Desire has been out there available for purchase. I'm amazed that it's still selling decently for something that's been out there so long (and pirated multiple times *GRRRRRRR*). I'm really happy that people are still discovering the story and (I assume) enjoying it.

In honour of this anniversary, the first 6 people to comment here get a free copy of it (or your choice of a different ebook of mine if you already have Blind Desire).

And I'd also like to thank my readers for supporting me. It's because of you guys that I'm able to have a 6th anniversary as a published author.

comments

Rather late to the party on this one, but there's still time....

From Torquere Press, a coupon code for a discount on all books bought through the TQ site

Because we love all of the Moms out there that might need a good read!
Use code: MOM2015 for 45% off from now until May 11th at 11:59 pm GMT

Additionally, for any people attending AnimeNorth in just a tick under 2 weeks (May 22-24), I will be be there and if you have my latest novel, ZA: And The Dead Shall Rise(available in dead tree format), I will most certainly sign your copy. I will once again be with Cafe Nocturne doing shows Saturday from 5-11 and Sunday from 1-3. Additionally, there'll be a photo op on Saturday from 3-4. The event is located in the Radisson Hotel on the 2nd floor directly across from the elevators (there will be a sign).

Unfortunately, the Cafe is sold out for shows so if you didn't snag your ticket, you're SOL. However, we have a 30 minute break between shows (from the top of the hour to 1/2 past) to reset the room so if you show up then it's not a problem. The con is also sold out for Saturday but there are still tickets for Friday and Sunday, but I expect they'll be going fast. If you wanted to be sure to catch me to sign or even to just chat, please feel free to email me and we can set something up.

The new story I'm writing for Yaoifix.com, Some Velvet Morning is going to be going live soon. For those of you subscribing to the site, I hope you enjoy this new adventure with more of my Awh'anise boys. This time we'll be following Makis, Mered (they're Moswen's broodmates and identical twins and you meet them in Balancing Karma) and Kushaiah (he has a short background story here called End Of A Clan) as they find what they need from each other. And yes, this is a triad relationship.

I've been writing something new lately and I'm already 10K into it and the mains haven't even bumped uglies yet *laughs*. I don't think it'll be very long. Or at least this part of the story won't be very long. Not sure what I'll do with it once it's done (free read or publish) but it is another Absolute story with completely new characters that were called into being because of dolls. The one character is actually on his way to me right now and the other is a future purchase (need to save up for him) but I will be picking up his special arm at AN *grins*.

comments

I had quite the productive weekend writing. I finished the next chapter of Velvet and it was a beast in size. 12K. ope, not even kidding about that. A lot of stuff happens in that chapter and I needed it to happen from a certain POV so... yeah, monster chapter. I am quite pleased with how it's going, too.

Now that I've got a good buffer going on Velvet (I wanted at least 6 months worth and the chapter I just finished was 7), I was finally able to turn my attention back to other stories I'd been working on. The Ugly Incubus was what I went back to and I ended up writing 3500 words on Sunday. Pretty pleased with myself over that considering that I also had to run around doing groceries, played a little Neverwinter and watched The Walking Dead as well as a few other shows.

( In doing the chapter of TUI, I introduce a new character. )

comments
